Gladløpet Stavern 2013

We participated in Gladløpet in Stavern, Norway 20th of July 2013. Almost 200 cars gathered in the beautiful summer weather in Stavern. Everything was perfect for a classic car event - happy people, great cars, blue sky and a good crowd of people browsing the cars. A huge variety of car brands and age - the oldest ones (I think the Brush from 1910 was the oldest running car) over a hundred years old, and some cars that just turned 30 years old.

The start-up was at 12 in Stavern. The speaker, Frank, presented each car briefly before starting the race - this took about two hours, and was good fun. We ran, my son Petter and me, our Triumph TR6 for this one - it was really cab weather.  It is the 24th time Gladløpet was arranged.

The race itself consisted of 7 posts, were you stop and solve whatever task you need to, to get the best possible score. When you get to the finish line, the points are checked and verified, and the best runners gets good prizes indeed. The posts on this particular event was mostly quiz questions related to cars. Some really tricky, not very child friendly this year, though, to be honest.

Anyway - the race (you get a map and directions as you start, and there are signs along the way as well) took about 2 hours to complete - then time for a picnic in lovely Stavern.
When it comes to the cars - impressive; best way to describe it. Everything from Auburn to Opel to Mustangs to Morgans. I do have an extra eye for British motors, so some really nice MG's and Triumps showed up. A Daimler and a Jaguar was also present. And two Aston Martin DBS V8's - one red left hand drive and a yellow/brown right hand drive. Both looking mint condition.

Thanks for a good event also this year!
